Off site accredited calibration means that a laboratory is able to perform calibration off site (at a customers premises) rather than at its permanent base or headquarters (on site).
As you may be aware the UK has two registered UKAS accredited laboratories, they are; 0392 and 0445.
0445 is the RF calibration laboratory for CISPR type calibration and indeed has off site
accreditation for OATS and chambers while 0392, is the conducted immunity laboratory dealing with BURST (EFT), ESD, PQT, SURGE and H&F.
The extension to accreditation for off site calibration means that the end user with large conducted immunity systems or individual instruments does not have the hang up of sending the system to Wokingham where upon he would have to consider down time, courier costs and possible transit damage. This is not just a beneficial tool for the UK but for Teseq globally as more and more enquiries are showing. By setting dates in the calendar it would allow a Teseq office to arrange multiple instruments to be calibrated at their premises if they do not themselves have UKAS or an equivalent excepted accreditation. The options are endless even to the point of arranging calibration at the product build site so that the instrument can go direct without globe hopping for requirements of calibration e.g. the Modula.
Now that the UK has this extra accreditation along with existing off site for 0445 as mentioned earlier, we will now work toward more disciplines on the RF side and of course H&F. However these do not evolve over night and considerable background work is needed to achieve the end product.
What with our move to centralize both laboratories in 2006 this was a fitting addition to add on for the new beginning of Teseq and the New Year.
